This policy covers how we handle and use any of your personal information and other information that we gather when you use our website or services. This policy is not applicable to third party companies or individuals that we do not employ or manage.

We collect information about you as you interact with Microverse, either through our website, emails, web forms or other means. The data and/or information we can collect includes but may not be limited to:

  • Contact information, like email and name.
  • Quiz and assessment performance and results.
  • Usage and activity data about your interaction with the website.
  • IP and client information.
  • Code or words submitted in Slack, email, live conversations, feedback, web forms or any other means.
  • Preferences and settings to customize your experience, like time zone and notification settings.

We collect this data to help us run the business of educating students, and data will be used to help us improve our training program, answer support questions, prevent abuse, make assessment decisions, provide you with marketing communications where you have opted-in to receiving such communications (including information about Microverse, its products and services, competitions and promotions), and any other activities related to Microverse. Microverse staff may review data collected about you, including personal information submitted to us, either through the website, emails, or other means, for support reasons, quality assurance, assessment decisions, or any other reason.

We won’t abuse your information.

  • We will not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We will not use your name or company name in marketing statements without your permission.
  • Any information you provide publicly on our website may be read, collected, and used by others who access the website and classrooms.
  • Your account while applying to the program and once you join as a student is protected by a password for your privacy and security. It is your responsibility to prevent unauthorized access to your account and personal information by selecting a password appropriately and protecting it.
  • The only instances we will share your information is to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspect fraud, or violations of our Terms of Services, or otherwise required by law.

Microverse reserves the right to change this policy at any time without prior consent or notification.

Data Protection for EU Users

If you are a European user, we hereby inform you of the processing of your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the regulations in force (if you are not a European user, the processing of personal data will be governed by the regulations applicable in each case).

2. Purpose of processing, legitimacy and storage period.  
MICROVERSE ENTERPRISES INC. may process your personal data in accordance with the following purposes: 

USER SUPPORT SERVICE THROUGH EMAIL
Purpose of processing: we will process the data strictly necessary to manage your request.  
Legitimacy: there is a legitimate interest on both sides for the resolution of requests or queries. In case of claims related to our products or services, the legitimacy is the fulfillment of legal obligations on our part.  Finally, in case the contact is related to the service purchased through the web, the treatment will be necessary for the execution of the purchase contract. 
Retention period: the time necessary to respond to your request and in any case, until the expiry of the statute of limitations for possible actions of liability arising from the treatment. 

MANAGE THE REGISTRATION OF A MICROVERSE USER 
Purpose of processing: In case you decide to register as a user of Microverse, we will need to process your data to identify you as a user and give you access to the benefits you obtain as a registered user.  
Legitimacy: The processing of the data is legitimized by your consent. 
Retention period: until you decide to unsubscribe. You can see how to delete your user account in section "5. Rights."

FOR MARKETING PURPOSES 
Purpose of processing: In case of subscription to our newsletters, personal data will be processed to manage this subscription and send you personalized information about our services, as well as information about your application process through the email you have provided. You will be able to unsubscribe from the subscription newsletter. 
Legitimacy: Legitimacy is your consent.  
Retention period: The retention period for marketing purposes is at your discretion.  You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe button at the bottom of emails. If you wish to delete your account, you can request to do so by sending an e-mail to gdpr@microverse.org. 

3. Recipients of assignments  
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER OF DATA: MICROVERSE ENTERPRISES INC. operates worldwide, so it may make international transfers of data, so these may be stored on servers located outside the EU.  By accepting our training and placement services, and by providing us with your personal information, we inform you of the intended transfer, processing and/or storage anywhere in the world, including the United States, under Art.  49 of the GDPR 2016/679: "(b) the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract between the data subject and the controller or for the performance of pre-contractual measures taken at the request of the data subject;" and being aware that the recipient countries have not been declared adequate level of protection by the European Commission nor do they have adequate safeguards for the protection of personal data under the terms of the GDPR 2016/679.

5. Rights
We inform you of your rights regarding data protection:
- Right to request access to your personal data. 
- Right to request its rectification or deletion. 
- Right to request the limitation of the treatment, and to oppose the treatment. 
- Right to data portability.
